Recycling sector proves profitable for JCB

JCB sales into the recycling sector have risen by 96% since 2002, according to David Perks, JCB's waste and recycling development manager.

Perks said: "JCB offers real solutions to the recycling industry and has the widest range of machines and attachments for the sector."

JCB recently demonstrated its recycling machines in a simulated working environment. Units included the TLT35D teletruk, Loadall Wastemasters and excavators, including a wheeled machine featuring a hydraulically raised cab.

Mike Philpott, junior vice president of the Chartered Institutes of Waste Management has also stressed the importance of the recycling industry adding the UK needed to increase its current recycling of waste to 25% by 2005 to meet EU directives.

"The challenge to the industry is to source multi-task equipment for better utilisation of resources," said Philpott.

Perks pointed out that JCB's machines can be used with a raft of attachments allowing them to do a multitude of tasks in the waste industry.
