Visitors to SED 2004 will be encouraged by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) to raise their game when it comes to safe lifting in the future.
The HSE stand will focus on planning lifting operations, selecting the right equipment and involving competent people.
And Morris Materials Handling will be demonstrating how to sling loads safely and showing examples of worn and defective lifting accessories.
A static display on the use of vacuum lifting aids attached to a mini-digger will represent how to avoid manually handling heavy kerbstones.
HSE inspectors will be on hand to answer questions and advise on all aspects of health and safety in the construction environment.
Safe lifting operations is a key inspection priority for HSE this year. Inspectors will concentrate their efforts on this issue along with falls and site transport during a UK-wide blitz being undertaken in June 2004.
HSE free information leaflets on a wide range of health and safety topics will be available.
SED 2004 takes place at Fen Farm, Milton Keynes, between 18-20 May. Visit www.sed.co.uk for free fast track entry tickets.
