Ratcliffe to combine CC and MCG roles

Stephen Ratcliffe, who takes over from Bill Tallis as Major Contractors Group (MCG) director from 4 May,  will combine this role with his current position as chief executive of the Construction Confederation (CC).

The dual role is to largely to reduce duplication and costs.

MCG will continue to carry out an active work programme that focuses, in particular, on improving health and safety and delivering better construction procurement.

It will also continue to play a major role in pursuing, through the Construction Confederation, a wider agenda for the whole construction industry, including ways of improving its image and recruiting and retaining a well-qualified workforce.

Speaking of the appointment, MCG chairman Dermot Gleeson said: "Stephen's immense experience of the workings of government and how it relates to business will prove invaluable in helping to secure the best commercial environment for our members."
