Rexquote on track with Case CX135
Road-rail specialist Rexquote has launched its new Case CX135
Crawlerailer machine. The company said this is the first time it
has used a Case tracked excavator for road-rail conversion, having
previously used the company's wheeled machines for its Mega-railer
and Super-railer units.
Rexquote said it pioneered tracked excavator conversions last year
with the Komatsu PC128.
The Case CX135 was chosen as its next project because it has rubber
tracks and the machine's 2.59m width fits the national railway
gauge.
According to Rexquote technical salesman Bob Stalley, rubber
tracks, now available on mid-range excavators, could revolutionise
railtrack maintenance as these machines have a lower ground
pressure than 'rubber ducks'. This results in less disturbance to
soil or ballast when the excavators mount and dismount the
rails.
"The reaction to the 14t road-rail CX135 has been very positive,"
Stalley said. "We've already sold two units with a further 20 on
order," he added.
