Solicitor Stephen Jackson has offered to work on a no win/no fee basis for all 500 former Ballast employees who were made redundant six months ago.
He is already pursuing a claim for some of the 500 involved and hopes to add more names to the active group.
"Former Ballast employees will be feeling pretty sore, having filled in their RP1 redundancy payment form and thinking that with that done, it's the end of the story," said Jackson, head of the employment department at Harding Evans, a large regional solicitor based in south Wales.
"But there is more, possibly. I'm taking a punt and I'm working for a group of former Ballast staff. The case stems from Ballast's failure to consult its workforce in the redundancy process. We're seeking compensation either from Ballast or, failing that, from the government instead.
"The hearing should be within weeks and a payout, if we win, should come within a few months. The only thing is that I need to have any additional names by 14 May."
