ENVIRONMENT AND REGENERATION DEPARTMENT
APPOINTMENT OF A CONTRACTOR FOR THE PROVISION OF
HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE AND IMPROVEMENT WORKS
Merton Council aims to provide a high quality and
environmentally sustainable highway maintenance
service to its residents. The Council is now
seeking to establish a long-term collaborative
relationship with a suitably experienced
Contractor, who is able to consistently deliver a
wide range of highway works in an innovative and
efficient manner.
The type of works undertaken will include: -
Routine maintenance, including street furniture and carriageway
markings
Emergency and reactive repairs
Planned Maintenance, including patching, machine
laid carriageway surfacing and reconstruction,
footway reconstruction, high friction surfacing
and drainage works
Minor Highway Improvements
It is anticipated that the initial duration of
the contract will be five years, with a possible
two-year extension. The annual value of the
contract is likely to be in the region of £4
million.
Contractors are initially requested to express
their interest by completing questionnaires to
assess their experience of similar work in a
partnering environment, evidence of a proactive
approach to environmental issues, financial
stability, technical ability and capability,
health and safety practices, quality procedures,
and equal opportunities compliance.
