Round four of NHS LIFT set for early June launch
The fourth tranche of NHS LIFT is to be launched in early June,
according to Department of Health (DoH) sources.
This long-delayed tranche, originally scheduled for January, is
expected to have a number of refinements on the previous three
tranches. Partnerships for Health (PfH), the joint venture between
DoH and Partnerships UK that oversees the programme, wants bidders
to put greater effort into developing commercial opportunities
within LIFT schemes, such as shopping centres and supermarkets.
Bidders may also be expected to include the provision of clinical
services, such as district nurses.
PfH is also planning to introduce greater standardisation of the
financing of LIFT schemes. LIFT documentation is expected to
include a range of gearing levels for consortia to bid against to
discourage highly geared bids.
Meanwhile, the £45m New-castle scheme from tranche one and the
£60m Bristol scheme from tranche two are both expected to
reach financial close this week.
