MERSEYSIDE ENGINEERS LABORATORY SERVICES
SITE INVESTIGATION - BORING/DRILLING AND ASSOCIATED
CONSULTANCY WORK
Sefton MBC invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified
and experienced contractors/consultants who wish to be considered for
inclusion on a number of discrete Select Lists for providing one or
more of the following services.
* Shell and auger boring
* Rotary core drilling
* Hand dug trial pits
* Laboratory testing of soil samples
* Static cone penetration testing
* Investigation of potentially contaminated land
* Provision of contaminated land risk assessments

* Provision of interpretative reports and advisory service
* Excavation and reinstatement of trial pits through the highway
Individual contracts are likely to be for a three year term and let
on a 'Schedule of Rates' basis. The Contracts will primarily be
administered by Merseyside Engineers Laboratory Services (MELS) in
order to service the five Merseyside Districts, namely, Sefton MBC,
Liverpool City Council, Knowsley MBC, St Helens MBC and Wirral MBC.
However, we are currently operating a partnership agreement with
Lancashire County Council and Manchester City Engineers Laboratory,
and work may also be commissioned by these Authorities under the
individual contracts for work carried out under their direction and
within their specific areas. Interested applicants must provide the
following information at the time of application:
a) The specific category of work(s) for which they are applying and
for which they can demonstrate suitable experience
b) Details of similar work carried out in the past three years for
other Local Authorities
and/or Consultants; including their nominal value
c) Names and addresses of three technical referees, from whom
references can be sought
d) A copy of the Company's Audited Accounts for the past three years
e) A copy of Company's Insurance Certificate
f ) Name and address of Banker from whom a reference can be sought.
(Applicants should enclose a letter to their Bank, confirming that
they shall pay the appropriate charges for the provision of this
financial reference)
g) VAT number, tax exemption number and company registration number
or equivalent information
h) Copy of approved Company Safety Policy
i) Certification to British Drilling Association (BDA) Standards.
Failure to supply this information at the time of submission will
render the submission invalid.
Expressions of interest should be forwarded to The Laboratory Services Manager,
(MELS), Cambridge Road Depot, Cambridge Road, Seaforth L21 1EZ by the
closing date,
31st May 2004.
