Architect Aedas has been chosen to design and implement a new £23m academy - the Petchey Academy in East London.
Aedas was selected as lead consultant from a DfES framework to work on the project in Hackney - one of a number of academies that form part of a Government programme to provide high-quality education for young people.
The 10,000m3 Academy specialises in healthcare and medical sciences and will provide 1,200 new secondary school places. The new academy will comprise of general classrooms, science laboratories, sports and arts facilities.
Aedas is also involved with the design and implementation of
other academies in the London Borough of Hillingdon; the Harefield
Academy that specialises in sport and is due for completion on
2006, and the Stockley Academy that will specialise in science and
technology, currently on site and due to open next year.
