The Joint Services Command Staff College (JSCSC), delivered by Defence (Watchfield) Management, a consortium of Equion and Serco Investments, has been named Best Operational Defence Accommodation Project in the 2004 Public Private Finance magazine awards.
Equion, a division of Laing, and Serco won the accolade for their outstanding performance during their contract with the Ministry Of Defence (MOD) to design, build, finance and operate the new armed forces training facility at Shrivenham in Wiltshire.
Defence and its team of sub-contractors were praised for their ability to consistently meet and improve on performance targets, and for their approach to the day-to-day running of the college, adapting to suit emerging needs as and when required.
Richard Weston, managing director of Equion said: "We always aim to go the extra mile for our clients, and this award recognises that we are getting it right for our client, the MOD, as well as for staff and pupils at the college. The ongoing success of the JSCSC contract is a result of excellent teamwork between Defence (Watchfield) Management and our sub-contractors."
The JSCSC, which opened in 2000, provides the Army, Navy and Royal Air Force with lecture suites, a library, and a 450-seat main conference hall.
