Wakeman named as CC chairman

Roy Wakeman is the new chairman of the Construction Confederation (CC) after taking over from Trevor Walker who becomes immediate past chairman.

Wakeman, currently chief executive of doorset producer LS Group, is the first confederation chairman from the building products manufacturing sector.

He has previously served two terms as British Woodworking Federation president and
has been instrumental in the consolidation and modernisation of the UK door and window industry.

One of Wakeman's main targets is to ensure the whole supply side of the industry works together for a common end to provide the customer with a more cost effective, safer and environmentally-friendly product.

"The CC is the ideal conduit to drive foreword progress on the issues that are vital to the well-being of our industry and its people including health and safety, training and sustainability," he said.

"We have the expertise and muscle to lobby effectively and I intend to build on this strength."
