Advance Works For Metrolink Phase 3
Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive
(GMPTE) is seeking expressions of interest from
suitably qualified and experienced contractors
who wish to be considered for inclusion on a
select list for the above project.
The scheme comprises advance works for the
Metrolink Phase 3 Extension to demolish low rise
commercial, traditional type residential houses
and terraced dwellings, two medium rise blocks of
flats and a low rise industrial building. It is
expected that asbestos will be present and
therefore will have to be properly handled and
disposed of. Provision of landscaping and

perimeter site fencing will also be required.
The works are scheduled to be undertaken in
Winter 2004. The sites are in various locations
in and around Tameside, Manchester and Rochdale.
The estimated cost of the works is in the region
of £600k.
The contract will be on the basis of fixed price
under the National Federation of Demolition
Contractors Form of Direct Contract, amended to
incorporate GMPTE's requirements and will
encompass each of the various site locations and
management of remote sites.
Applicants must demonstrate their ability to
undertake the above works in their expressions of
interest, which must include details of similar
contracts undertaken recently. In addition
contractors applying must provide the following
information with their submission:-
a. The names and addresses of three technical
referees who are able to provide a reference of
the applicant's competence in relation to this
type of work. Details of particular projects
undertaken by the applicants should form part of
these references.
b. A Copy of the Company's latest audited
accounts, which should not be more than 19 months
old.
c. The name and address of the Company's bankers.
d. Confirmation that the Company is insured for
public Liability of at least £5,000,000.
e. A copy of the Company's Construction Industry Tax Deduction Certificate.
f. Evidence of having acted in the role of
Principal Contractor under the 1994 CDM
Regulations on similar schemes.
g. Evidence of achieving excellent safety records
within the industry and working within urban type
environment and public safety.
