Alfred McAlpine to transform King's Lynn after £22m contract win

The Norfolk town of King's Lynn is to be transformed over the next 18 months following a £22.4m contract win for Alfred McAlpine.

Awarded by Caddick Developments Limited, the 'Vancouver Centre' scheme will see the town centre redeveloped with 25 new and 26 refurbished retail units, other facilities and new pedestrian walkways.

Key to securing the project, which will be managed by Alfred McAlpine's Special Projects, was the ability of the business to act as both a developer and contractor - bringing forward complex schemes working in partnership with other developers and clients.

"This type of early involvement in schemes, working closely with other developers and clients is instrumental in understanding the needs and requirements of all involved parties and ultimately delivering a successful project," said Robert Tattrie, Special Projects regional managing director, central region.

Work started on site in March with demolition work and service diversions.
