Alfred McAlpine wins £40m Stoke Mandeville contract

Alfred McAlpine has won a £40m PFI contract at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

The project will see the re-configuration of the existing general hospital facilities at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

This will involve the provision of the some 220 beds in medical, surgical, assessment and paediatric wards, a major day surgery unit and operating theatres.

Alfred McAlpine is a member of Enterprise Healthcare, the PFI consortium that is
developing the scheme. The other partners are Sodexho and HSBC Infrastructure. The consortium will own and operate the hospital on a 32-year concession.

Alfred McAlpine's Capital Projects business will lead the £40m construction project in joint venture with Haden Young. This is scheduled to be completed in 28 months.

"Both of these concessions are operating successfully. Additionally the consortium will shortly be reaching financial close at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge."
