Dome regeneration contract signed


The regeneration of the Millennium Dome and the rest of the Greenwich Peninsula will begin later this year following the signing of commercial contracts for the project.

Meridian Delta (a joint venture between Lend Lease and Qintain Estates & Development) and Anschultz Entertainment Group have signed contracts with English Partnerships and the London Borough of Greenwich.

The £4bn scheme will provide 10,000 new homes (of whoich 3,800 will be affordable), a 20,000-seat sports and entertainment arena within the Dome (due to be completed by spring 2007), new primary and secondary schools and transport improvements.

Work on infrastructure upgrades to prepare the 121ha site is due to begin later this year. Development will continue for the next 20 years, with construction starting on the arena in spring 2005 and the first home starting in 2006.
