The transfer of Enterprise-Liverpool's £5m-a-year housing
contract for Cobalt Housing Association has been delayed by two
weeks due to a breakdown in talks over terms and conditions.
Enterprise-Liverpool's joint venture repair and maintenance
contract was due to be handed over to replacement contractors last
week. However, workers were told in writing last Friday that the
transfer would not occur until around 14 July due
to technicalities.
Union officials have told CJ that problems still surround an
agreement of terms and conditions for workers who will transfer
across under TUPE rules from Enterprise-Liverpool to the contract's
newly-appointed contractors: BSS; Integral: JC Construction; and
Ritson & McKenzie.
Last week's crunch meeting between union representatives and
Enterprise-Liverpool (CJ 30 June) was inconclusive, with unions
refraining from taking strike action until the proposed terms and
conditions had been put to the contract's 65-strong
workforce.
Strike action might be proposed if some form of agreement isn't
reached at a meeting today (Wednesday) between unions,
Enterprise-Liverpool and Cobalt.
