New guidance for insurance
Guidance published by the Department for Work and Pensions last
week will help public sector procurement heads ensure that
contractors and subcontractors have complied with Employers'
Liability Compulsory Insurance (ELCI).
The guidance states that the contractor must hold insurance of at
least £5m and that contracting authorities should ask to see
the ELCI policy and certificate.
The guidance is available at www.ogc.gov.uk.
All procurement heads will be informed about the website and asked
to monitor and evaluate the new guidance. This will be used in a
review of its take-up and operation in October.
