GCE Hire Fleet has purchased its first Bell machines, in the shape
of six B30D articulated dump trucks.
One of the main reasons for purchase was that the Mercedes engines
in the B30Ds are not only certificated to European emission
standards, but also for the US, where GCE sells much of its used
equipment.
GCE company director William Bordman said the hire income basically
covers the finance and running costs of the machine but the resale
value provides its main profit. "The US is one of our major markets
for used machines," Bordman said.
In selling to America, he believes the company maximises the
residual value of its fleet. This option would not be available if
the machines were not certificated to US EPA regulations.
"The Bell trucks have EPA certification so we can sell them into
the US and this was one of the major considerations for buying
them," Bordman said.
The 27.3t payload units are fitted with flotation 30x65 tyres and
join a fleet of 60 machines - up to a third of which are ADTs.
