Poly Hi Solidur's tough body liner
Sticking loads in tippers is a thing of the past, according to John
Watkins, sales and marketing manager for Poly Hi Solidur UK, which
is marketing the QuickSilver body liner made from ultra-high
molecular weight polyethylene.
The liner's tough non-porous thermoplastic material has a low
co-efficient of friction, high impact and sliding abrasion
resistance, and resists chemical attack and corrosion.
The material contains a heat inhibitor, which allows it to
withstand temperatures in excess of 180¡C (including hot
asphalt). Its insulating properties may also interest owners of
uninsulated trucks in service on asphalt haulage, Watkins said
.
The polymer is said to have higher sliding abrasion resistance than
carbon steel or 304 stainless steel.
Based on the US model, the QuickSilver liner has at least double
the lifespan of the aluminium or steel body it replaces.
Liner installation takes two people one day, using hand tools such
as circular saws and drills.
