Bowmer & Kirkland has beaten strong competition from several national construction companies to win two major contracts worth £62m from Rolls-Royce.
The two projects – a 14,000m2 manufacturing facility at Hucknall, near Nottingham and two new factories comprising 50,000m2 of floor space on an existing Rolls-Royce site in Derby – are part of a £100m investment programme announced by Rolls-Royce earlier this year.
For Bowmer & Kirkland the award concludes months of negotiations and continues a long association with the aero-engine giant.
The Hucknall facility will be the company’s HQ for gas turbine combustion system components such as casings and liners and 300 people will eventually work at the site.
The Derby buildings will house a new maintenance repair and overhaul facility, where up to 250 aero-engines will be overhauled each year and a manufacturing plant which will make a range of high-value specialist compression system components.
