Interserve appointed preferred bidder for £70m Hadley education PFI deal

The Borough of Telford & Wrekin has selected Interserve ahead of rival Jarvis as the preferred bidder for its £70m Hadley Learning Community and Jigsaw Project PFI scheme.

The Hadley Learning Community will include a new 1,200-place secondary school, the relocated Bridge Special School and a new 420-place primary school.

Community facilities will comprise a creche, nursery and childcare support, health services for young children, a learning resource centre and the latest broadband and ICT technology.

Also included in the deal is a 150-seat theatre, a cafe and a range of sports facilities, such as a 25m swimming pool, fitness gym and sports pitches.

The Jigsaw element of the scheme, which will be located at a different site, will provide local and integrated education, social and healthcare support for 30 vulnerable children.

Interserve will design, build and then maintain the facilities for at least 25 years.
