Ennstone today said it plans to boost sales in the Midlands with the acquisition of Johnston Group.
The £87.8m turnover is awaiting shareholders’ approval on the acquisition that will see it more than double its size. Johnston reported a turnover of £150.8m last year, with £37.6m in its construction materials division.
The company’s Construction Materials division makes concrete building products and glass-reinforced pipes.
Johnston also has two quarries and two large-volume coated stone plants around Birmingham. Ennstone said the acquisition fits its strategy to expand its East Midlands asphalt and concrete plants.
Ennstone has not yet revealed plans for Johnston’s non-core £113.1m turnover engineering division.
