OLD PORT TO THE GROVES RIVERSIDE PROMENADE CHESTER
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced contractors, who wish to be considered for
inclusion on a Select List, for invitation to tender in accordance with the ICE Conditions of Contract.
The proposed works are along the upper reaches of the tidal River Dee, within the City Centre. The
area is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is of considerable ecological and archaeological significance.
Works are to reconstruct and improve 1.5 km of footway and cycleway along the edge of the river,
with associated street furniture and landscaping, including some reconstruction of river wall to
replace an existing elevated section of footway (approx. 1.0m in height and 600m in length).
Access along the latter length is limited.
It is proposed that works be divided into phases varying from £100.0k to £500.0k with the first
phase likely to commence early 2005.
Applicants should submit details of similar recently completed works, stating location, value and client for
each, together with the names and addresses of two technical referees.
Applications should be sent to Mrs S Carlisle, Construction Design and Management, Chester City
Council, 11 Hunters Walk, Canal Street, Chester CH1 4EB, to be received no later than 20 August
2004. Any queries, please contact Mrs S Carlisle on 01244 402624.
