Jarvis has lost another PFI schools contract after the Mowlem Robertson Schools Consortium was confirmed today as preferred bidder on the £150m Redcar and Cleveland Schools PFI contract for Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
The winning consortium consists of Mowlem's Project Development Division and Robertson. The consortium and Jarvis were asked to resubmit their bids in April.
The project will involve the construction of five new schools – three secondary and two primary - and the refurbishment and remodelling of a further secondary school in the area. Work is due to start in January 2005, with a view to the schools opening in September 2006.
Following the £50m capital works, scheduled to take approximately two years, Mowlem will then provide soft and hard services to the schools for a further 28 years.
