The expected departure to the Treasury of construction minister Nigel Griffiths will not take place until the middle of next month, according to government officials.
CJ revealed last month (CJ 14 July) that Griffiths is likely to be promoted to the Treasury as a reward for his handling of the construction and small business portfolio over the past 12 months.
However, the Prime Minister’s reshuffle has been delayed until after his holiday and will not be finalised until after the summer recess, which concludes on 6 September.
The Department of Trade & Industry has made no attempt to deny claims of Griffiths’ departure. A spokesman confirmed to CJ that "no decision, if any, would be made until September".
