Berth 3 Passenger Access Facility
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced
Civil Engineering Contractors wishing to be considered for
inclusion on the select list of Tenderers to undertake the DESIGN
& CONSTRUCT of the CONTINENTAL FERRY PORT,
PORTSMOUTH, BERTH 3 PASSENGER ACCESS FACILITY.
The facility comprises a lift platform with a vertical lift range of
approximately 13m. The platform will be provided with 1No
pedestrian drawbridge, which will be lowered onto the deck of the
ship to allow passengers to get on and off. The drawbridge will
have the ability to traverse up and down the full length of the
platform to serve the landing positions of a variety of different
vessels that currently operate from the berth. Access to the
platform will be via a link-bridge. The link-bridge, approximately
20m long, will span between the platform and an existing
quayside structure. The link-bridge will be hinged at the lift
platform. The other end of the link-bridge will terminate at the
existing quayside structure and, aided with a mechanical hoist,
will have the ability to operate from either one of three existing
landing positions.
The facility shall be suitably protected against the weather.
To allow for possible future expansion and to increase the vessel
coverage, longitudinally along the length of the quay, the facility
shall be designed to accept a "bolt on" facility of similar
specification and appearance.
The estimated cost of the project is £700,000.
