Bilfinger nets £95m Kent schools job
A group headed up by German firm Bilfinger Berger has chalked up
success on a £95m PFI schools deal in Kent.
The county council has registered the Kent Education Partnership
(KEP) as its preferred bidder for a scheme to deliver a total of
six schools in Tonbridge, Maidstone, Ashford, Ramsgate, East
Malling and Snodland.
The programme of work includes both new build and refurbishment and
is expected to start on site early next year. The first projects
should be completed by September 2006.
KEP also includes London-based contractor William Verry, facilities
manager Mitie, development partner Crest Nicholson, architects
Scott Brownrigg/CDH Pottinger and project manager AYH.
KEP's rival for the deal was the First Class group, which includes
Hochtief, Amey, M&E contractor Jones King and Chandler KBS
Project Management.
