Lovell and Mears bag £108m housing deal
Lovell and Mears have been named preferred contractors for
£108m-worth of housing upgrade work in Peterborough.
Housing association Cross Keys Homes, which will take over the city
council's stock of 10,000 properties in October, will now begin
detailed financial discussions with the duo and is likely to
recommend both contractors at a board meeting set for 27
September.
The deal is set to run for just over four years and will include
5,000 new kitchens, 4,900
bathrooms, 5,000 central heating systems and electrical
upgrades.
Tenants played a crucial role in choosing two contractors out of
three in the final run-in. To aid their decisions, they visited
homes in Stevenage, London and Bradford that the trio are currently
working on. The unsuccessful contender was Kier.
Meanwhile, Astraseal and the city council's window factory have won
the contract for new doors and windows. Work starts on site in
January.
