Sustainable construction centre gets the go ahead

The first sustainable construction centre in the South West is set to go ahead now that funding has been found for the project in Somerset.
The South West regional development agency, Somerset Learning and Skills Council, Somerset College of Arts and Technology and the Higher Education Council have clubbed together to raise the £2.5m funding necessary for the scheme.
The centre in Taunton will provide training courses and a foundation degree in sustainable construction, as well as promoting it to the public.
Planning permission was granted last year for the centre, which will be built using sustainable resources such as straw, timber, earth and clay.
Russell Construction will start work on the site in the autumn.
