SH Structures aims to give Olympic bid added steel
SH Structures-supplied steelwork is being erected by Galliford Try
on a project that may support London's Olympic bid.
The contractor is six months into the project to build a 3,100m2
indoor athletics centre and 850m2 netball and badminton court for
Brunel University.
Galliford is erecting steelwork with a 24m clear span supplied by
SH Structures. The arched roof beams come in three sections, and
measure 70m in circumference once erected. They are then covered
with standing seam aluminium roofing.
The Olympic committee plans to visit the centre in March next year,
and Brunel University hopes that it will be used as a training
centre if London is successful in its bid to become the Olympic
host in 2012.
