LGS eyes quick fix for digital levelling
Leica Geosystems (LGS) hopes to bring the digital age to onsite
levelling and flooring.
LGS will bring an electronic level to the construction market next
month, which is aimed at processes such as flooring and
brickwork.
The company currently makes products for surveyors, but has
developed a digital level for contractors, foremen and construction
and civil engineers.
An LGS spokeswoman said: "Part of the hurdle is that people see
digital levels as expensive and difficult to use, but the
construction industry is becoming more used to technology."
LGS claims the four models of the Sprinter range are between 50%
and 80% quicker in taking levels.
The product's electronic eye picks up levels on a barcode staff,
cutting out estimation errors. It can work under low light levels
and can record measurements and compute reduced levels and height
differences. The Sprinter can take levels in under three
seconds.
LGS also claims the product takes the minimum of training; and all
"reasonably skilled" tradespeople can operate it".
