Hyder Consulting snaps up environmental consultancy

Hyder Consulting has continued its push into the UK environment sector with the acquisition of  specialist environmental consultancy, Marcus Hodges Environment (MHE), for £2.5m.

Some £1.85m will be paid up front with a further £0.65m payable over the next three years dependent on profit performance.

MHE provides high level consultancy solutions in environmental and strategic planning,   contaminated land assessment, and design and engineering services.

It has a particularly strong client  base in the South West of England, with a portfolio of clients that includes the Environment Agency and Wessex Water.

In the financial year to 31 March 2004, MHE had a turnover of approximately £2m and profits  before interest and tax of £0.25m.
