Babcock & Brown wins £150m PFI schools deal
A consortium of Babcock & Brown, Galliford Try and facilities manager Amey has been unconfirmed as victor on Northamptonshire County Council’s £150m PFI schools deal, as tipped in CJ (14 July).
The group’s victory signals another disappointment in the PFI schools stakes for Jarvis – the battered contractor was the only other contender for the scheme.
A third contender, Gleeson and PFI provider Canmore, pulled out of the running last year.
The project, known as the Northampton Review Schools Reorganisation comprises a total of 47
schools.
Six will be completely new build, with the rest, a mixture of primary and secondary schools, being refurbished or extended over a period of two years.
The maintain and operate concession will run for 25 years.
