Nine in running for lucrative water contract

Nine firms have tapped into a potential £4.25bn worth of work for Dwr Cymru Welsh Water.

The 10-year asset investment programme, worth about £200m a year, was assessed under three separate headings.

The winners are:
Civils: Amec, Costain and Morrison.
Rehab: Laing Utilities.
Process: Black & Veatch, Meica.

The client dropped pitches from Barhale, Galliford Try, Gleeson, Morgan Est, Thames Water and United Utilities/Daniel Contractors.

Welsh Water’s asset operations deal, worth £150m a year and running for up to 15 years, will be shared out between Kelda and United Utilities.

This means the client has ruled out bids from AWG, Veolia Water and Thames Water.
The contracts will kick off next April and be subject to five-year performance reviews.
