Willmott Dixon has won a £6m project from the University of Cambridge to build a plant growth facility that will allow scientists to analyse how the genetic make-up of plants affects their growth, development and resistance to diseases.
Situated at the University’s Botanic Garden, the new facility will provide a number of temperature controlled environments that allow scientists and students from the Department of Plant Sciences to grow plants under exact conditions.
Willmott Dixon won the project, which is being built under a two-stage process, after a competitive tender process and it is scheduled for completion by early autumn next year.
