A prototype of what is claimed to be the smallest mini crusher on
tracks made its appearance at Saltex last week. Aimed at the
landscaping and plant rental markets, the BAV-Trak crusher from
Digbits is based on a Yamaguchi tracked dumper chassis and will be
distributed in the UK by Cautrac.
Designed for Digbits by independent engineer Andrew Luetchford, the
prototype features a Mitsubishi 4.5kW petrol-driven engine, plus a
two forward and two reverse gear transmission.
According to Luetchford, the crusher, which will be ready for sale
early next year, will probably have a diesel engine and only two
gears, one forward and one reverse. "This will make it easier to
operate," he commented.
The crusher itself has been manufactured with toughened Hardox 400
steel and has a throughput of up to 8t/hr producing product of
between 20mm to 70mm.
"The Yamaguchi tracks have a width of only 720mm, so I think the
unit will be the perfect partner for a micro excavator working on a
small confined job,"
said Luetchford.
