Rail maintenance workload back on track
Carillion has already found an effective replacement for a third of
the rail maintenance workload that was lost as a result of Network
Rail's decision to take that provision back in-house.
"We are looking to replace it all and so get Carillion's rail
business back to £500m a year," said McDonough. "At the
moment, our annualised figure would be £400m. Rail is still a
positive place to be."
Carillion is eying a substantial share of the £11.5bn-worth of
capital projects due to be let on the upgrade of the West Coast
mainline over the next five years. Rail renewal opportunities on
the project add a further £3.5bn of work potential.
