Amec lands £7.2m MoD scheme
Amec has landed a £7.2m Ministry of Defence deal in East
Anglia, while the client has also called up contractors to pitch
for further work totalling about £5m in the region.
At RAF Lakenheath, Suffolk, Amec will build a dormitory block for
120 personnel.
The project includes demolishing the present block and then
constructing two linked 60-bed dormitories consisting of four
floors.
Completion is due in 90 weeks.
And six firms are battling it out for an estimated £5m-plus
maintenance and repairs deal at RAF bases throughout
Cambridgeshire.
The formation is: Alfred McAlpine Business Services; Mitie
Engineering; Haden Building Management; and three London-based
outfits - Bailey Maintenance Services, Cofathec and Planned
Maintenance Engineering.
Most of the work will be concentrated at three bases: Alconbury;
Molesworth; and Upwood.
The contract will initially run for five years, with the option to
extend by a further two.
