Greenpeace unhappy with replies
Greenpeace has expressed its "extreme disappointment" that only
four of the 10 projects it has targeted over sustainable wood
concerns have responded to the group (CJ 15 September).
Greenpeace has now set a deadline of the end of this week for the
other six projects to reply before it takes further action.
A Greenpeace spokesman revealed the responses so far:
n<2002>Galliford was unable to confirm that it was using FSC
timber on the Public Arts Centre project in West Bromwich.
n<2002>Mowlem said FSC timber had not been specified on its
National Waterfront Museum contract in Swansea.
n<2002>Mowlem said it "was a bit late in the day" to use FSC
timber on the St George's Hall job in Liverpool as it is "near
completion".
n<2002>Allenbuild said hardwood was not used on its extension
to The Deep in Hull.
Greenpeace is not happy with these replies and has asked the
contractors for more details.
