The development of the workforce is the most important issue facing the hvacr and building services sectors, according to the Heating and Ventilating Contractors' Association (HVCA) president Mike Taylor.
Speaking at the Association's Centenary Dinner, Taylor stressed that "people lie at the heart of everything we do" - and that the industry's ability to innovate, and to achieve excellence, could only ever be as great as the quality of the individuals who work within it.
"The truth is that competent, well-trained, well-motivated people are our principal asset, our soundest investment - and our passport to prosperity," the president explained.
"It is our absolute duty, therefore, to recruit, retain, develop and motivate individuals of talent and ability - and to make them feel valuable, and valued, members of the team."
