Retirement for Scanlan's veteran
Nantwich-based plant hire operator Scanlan is pensioning off its
oldest Cementech volumetric concrete mixer after 16 years' service
and trading it in against two new units.
Two new 8m3 units mounted on Scania eight-wheelers, able to
generate a cubic metre of concrete in around 150 seconds are
replacing the old 5m3 unit.
"The larger capacity makes for a more efficient piece of plant. We
do a lot of deliveries around 1m3. Where the older machine would
have to return after five such drops, the new one will be able to
manage eight," said Simon Baldwin, Scanlan's financial
director.
However, the original unit is not destined for the scrap heap.
Scanlan says it will return to Armcon Cementech for refurbishment
and will then be sold on with a full warranty.
