Paving the way with vacuum
Landmac has started to market a Dutch vacuum kerb lifting
attachment mounted on a Skidster machine.
Once the unit is fitted, which initially takes about a day, the
Skidster is controlled by the wander leads connected to the
attachment's handles. This enables the operator to pick up,
transport and place the kerbstones from one position.
The attachment has a lifting capacity of 140kg and gives an
over-the-side reach of more than 1m. The vacuum pads can quickly be
replaced by scissor grabs.
Landmac partner Ben Hutchins said the unit overcomes manual
handling problems without tying up a backhoe loader or
telehandler.
The company has a fleet of four for hire and has sold units to
councils and specialist contractors.
