Two companies being prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) after a man fell to his death three years ago have seen their case delayed until next month.
Anthony Abbott died after falling 2m from an access scaffold, while installing hygienic ‘white wall’ panels at a Dairy Crest site in Dagenham on 3 September 2001.
Contractor TSL Hygienic of Southampton and sub-contractor JMPI of Grimsby, who supplied the panels, appeared in court last Thursday charged with breaching Regulation 6(1) and 6(6) of the Construction (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1996, in relation to falls.
Although TSL Hygienic pleaded guilty to both charges, JMPI pleaded not guilty so the case will be now heard at the same venue, City of London magistrate’s court, London on 10 November.
