Five contractors have put in successful bids for a £120m road scheme in Warwickshire.
The Highways Agency has announced that Amec, Costain, Laing O’Rourke, Mowlem and Skanska have all bid for the deal to upgrade Junction 19 of the M1 motorway, near Rugby.
The scheme, which will take three years, will significantly improve safety and reduce congestion at the junction via a grade-separated roundabout with the A14/M6 link, designed as a free flow link over the M1.
The local roads at the junction will be separated from Junction 19 and an alternative route provided.
The winning contractor, who will be selected early next year, will begin in 2007/08 subject to successfully negotiating statutory procedures.
