Hackney retenders £80m regen
The London Borough of Hackney has re-advertised its £80m
regeneration scheme for the Haggerston West and Kingsland estates
following the withdrawal of John Laing Partnerships from the
scheme.
London and Quadrant Housing Association, Ujima Housing Association
and the council are now looking for a replacement developer.
Interested firms have until 22 October to pre-qualify. The new
developer will work with the council and housing associations on
the masterplan for the two estates, which will be put to a tenants'
ballot for approval next year.
The scheme involves the demolition of 476 homes, along with a
community centre and shops. Some 381 new affordable homes will then
be constructed with a new community centre and 14 small retail
units. A further 381 homes will be built for sale to provide cross
subsidy.
