Hire companies that are looking to supply Network Rail with plant or small tools for use in its track maintenance operations have until the end of next week (Friday 22 October) to get on to the company’s pre-qualification list by registering their interest.
Having taken maintenance work back in-house, Network Rail has split the UK into 18 regions. It is now looking to put in place regional or national deals with suppliers of small plant and equipment, road rail excavators and other rail converted plant, complete with machine operators. It expects to appoint one or two suppliers in each region.
Companies looking to hire equipment to Network Rail will have to satisfy certain criteria prior to tendering, although a Railway Safety Case is not required.
The contracts, which could last for up to five years, are expected to be awarded in early January for supply to start on 1 April.
Interested parties should contact Network Rail’s commercial manager Malcolm Gilmore on 020 7557 8825.
