Fiat Kobelco has completed its excavator line up with the
introduction of the E485 Evolution. The unit has a 48.25t operating
weight in standard configuration, or 50.25t when fitted with the
long undercarriage. It is powered by a six-cylinder 240kW Isuzu
engine.
Fitted with the standard dipper, the maximum dig depth is 8.3m and
the dump height is 7.8m. It has a bucket breakout of 248kN
increasing to 270kN with Power Boost. Its ROPS/FOPS cab has
elasto-viscous mountings and an air-suspended seat to reduce
vibration reaching the operator. A large glass area and transparent
roof improves operator visibility.
An on-board computer provides: automatic priority sensing; engine
speed monitoring; a maintenance programme; self-diagnosis; and
operating-data storage.
There are three operating modes: standard for routine work;
heavy/mechatronic for maximum power; and attachment mode, which
allows the operator to select and store information applicable to
specific tools.
The heavy-duty track features an increased link pitch, while the
two-speed hydrostatic drive provides a 5.6km/h travel speed and 35o
climbing ability. Automatic centralised lubrication can be
programmed to control the frequency and quantity of grease
dispensed.
The E485 extends Fiat Kobelco's crawler excavator range to 16 base
models between 8t and 82t.
