Waco grows offsite by buying Interlink

Waco grows offsite by buying Interlink Waco International has become the second biggest player in the modular buildings market with a £31.3m purchase. The group has bought competitor Interlink Building Services, which it will combine with its UK operation, Premier, as Waco UK.
Both companies have manufacturing facilities in Brandesburton, Yorkshire, and chief executive Royden Vice said the company plans to keep the two factories separate, although it will be consolidating Waco UK sales offices.
In total, the company will have 5,500 units. Vice said: "There is more acceptance in the UK market about the concept of modular buildings."
He said the acquisition would see Waco bringing products on to the UK market from its Australian operation.

"We have a team of four people coming over in the next few weeks to sit with the UK people and develop a programme for sharing our products."
Vice said the company's Australian operation has a more developed educational sector than the UK. "They're much more geared to modular buildings in education, and we could bring in some of their designs."
He added that the firm planned to take modular buildings of up to five floors to the Australian market.
Vice said government spending on health and education will see the modular buildings market grow in the medium term. "In the past few years, the modular building market has grown 8% or 9% per annum, and we're hoping the sector will show real growth above that for the next two or three years."
