JCB managing director to step down next month

As from 1 December Sir Anthony Bamford will relinquish his position as managing director of JCB in favour of his chief executive John Patterson.

Sir Anthony, who succeeded his father in 1975, will continue as JCB chairman and remain actively involved in the business.

Commenting on the decision, he said: “This change in responsibilities is recognition of the excellent job Patterson has done in leading the team that has taken the company to where it is today.”

Patterson joined JCB as a service manager in 1971 and has held a number of jobs within the company. He is a past president of the Federation of Manufacturers of Construction Equipment and Cranes.
