JCB theft halted by RAC Trackstar
The success of tracking systems has been demonstrated by the return
of a JCB 3CX to O'Connor Plant Hire of Cheltenham.
Plant manager Tim Mepham was contacted by RAC Trackstar at 6.30am
last Tuesday to ask if the 3CX should be moving. Having established
it should not, the police were alerted at 7.20am and RAC
Trackstar's operatives used the GPS-based system to guide them to
the stolen unit.
The thieves had reached Maidenhead by the time the police caught up
with them. By 8.15am one of O'Connor's low loaders was on its way
to collect the unit and return it to site. "All we have lost is
half a day's hire," Mepham said .
